CORONAVIRUS/COVID-19 May 7, 2020

Many of you are aware of the BC Government’s restart plans to move forward as stay at home has seen BC flatten the curve.

The Union is meeting with the College on Friday this week and Wednesday next week as to the logistics in moving forward. For the short term we don’t envision too much change in that those that can still be working from home should continue doing so. Employers are required to take reasonable steps to ensure the health and safety of workers and other parties at the workplace. The College has been following guidelines from the Provincial Health Officer and the BC Centre for Disease Control to address COVID-19. The Joint Occupational Health & Safety Committee plays a legislative and vital role at any workplace and going forward will be integral in the restart plans and moving forward.

On another note the Union Bargaining Committee has exchanged a package of bargaining proposals with the College and is working towards successfully concluding bargaining.
