The following are guidelines around the use of Career 
Development funds (CD funds).
  • The Fund is available to all temporary and permanent staff members.
  • Career Development funds will be provided in accordance with Article 20 of the VCC/CUPE 4627 Collective Agreement.
  • Requests for Career Development funding are to be forwarded to Sharon Carefoot, Director, Human Resources. Please see the form for instructions regarding the application process.
  • All requests for Career Development funds must be employee-initiated.
  • Requests for CD funds may include, but are not necessarily limited to, tuition fees, course material charges, travel and lodging expenses for conferences, and convention and workshop registration fees. CD funds may be used in combination with other grants and funding disbursements available through the College, and elsewhere.
  • Reimbursements for CD activities are made on the following basis: the College will pay one-half of the fees at the time of registration and upon submission of receipt(s). Upon proof of satisfactory completion of the CD activity, the College will pay the remaining half.
  • A maximum of $1,000.00 $2,000.00 increase for 2011/12 as of January 4, 2012 per CUPE 4627 member per fiscal year will be approved. The Fund will be reviewed periodically, and should there be funds remaining toward the end of the fiscal year, further monies may be allocated to individuals who have requested further funding.
  • Should a CUPE 4627 member be unable to finish a course for which funding has been issued, and fees are refunded, it is the member's responsibility to ensure that the refund is returned to the CD Fund, otherwise, further applications may be refused.
  • Please ensure original receipts are submitted for reimbursement
