At a time VCC is closing departments & laying off employees this should be most welcome news–if only there was any open communication forthcoming. We welcome the work that Samsung will bring* and of course the workers will be covered under our labour certification. Have already met with Human Resources in regards to this–they were as in the dark about Samsung as the rest of the college community. No details on this partnership have gone through Education Council nor Operations Council–nor does VP of Finance Marlene Kowalski feel the need to do so. Administration playing that familiar game of nothing explicitly stating process or consultation gives administration free rein. It’s like putting Tuition & Fees Committee on hiatus without a meeting of the committee members or advising the committee or the college community of the hiatus.
